President Pranab Mukherjee to give JNU Visitors award for the best university
Critically accused university as the hub of anti-national elements, JNU, is all set to receive the Visitor’s Award, for being the best central university in the country.According to the reports, President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, will present the award at a function which will be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan as a part of the ‘Festival of Innovations.’
What the university will receive?
The university will receive a trophy and citation while the winners of Visitor’s Award for the category of ‘Innovation and Research will receive a citation.University will also receive a cash price of Rs 1 Lakh.

Nine central universities including Jamia Millia Islamia, Alghar Muslim University and Banaras Hindu University applies for the same award under the best university category.In order to encourage a healthy competition between various universities in the country the award was instituted in the year 2015.
The President will present the award for innovation to Dr Deepak Pant of Himachal University and the award for the research will be presented to Professor Shyam Sundar of BHU and Professor Nirajan Karak of Tezpur University, respectively.Himachal won the visitor’s Award for innovation. BHU and Tezpur University share the award for award.
A selection committee which was headed by Omita Paul, secretary to the President of India, comprises UGC Chairman, Director General of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, and secretaries of department of higher education and department of science and technology.
